Club to Catwalk

Last Sunday, I went to the V and A and viewed the 'Club to Catwalk' exhibition. This exhibition was showing different era's of fashion as well as the exciting designs from new designers for example Betty Jackson

Here is the Betty Jackson exhibit, showing some of her designs

The idea of the exhibition is to showcase how clubbing emerged in the 80's which gave the public an opportunity to express their style through bright colours and blitz. However, the exhibition also shows the contrast of the catwalk which also emerged in the 80's but was a complete different style to the club. The catwalk was a time to express elegance and chic style. In the 80's fashion shows began to take place internationally, for example in NYC and Japan.

These Dior shoes really caught my attention, purely because the trend has not left. High street shops like Topshop and H and M are still making shoes with excessive sparkle. These were made in the late 50's out of silk, satin and sequins!
Another piece which caught my attention was this corset which was made in the 1950's out of nylon and lace. Although when this was made it was made as an under garment and nowadays people are wearing them alone as a top on a night out, the style and design has remained almost exactly the same. Over the summer, I was in Spain and saw plently of girls wearing these, I personally think they link best with a pair of vintage Levi cut shorts, to give the outfit some edge.

There is no such thing as too many GOWNS

Ball gowns are my favourite style of dress, such elegance and beauty is associated with them automatically and they are the perfect dress to wear to a fancy event. Because they have such a presence and are so incredible, the practically make an outfit an outfit and it could be the case that no statement jewellery is necessarily needed, just a simple pair of earrings!

A ball gown that I saw recently which I really adored was the Valentino Scalloped Silk Blend Gown

The reason why I love this gown so much, is that the material is stunning, the beautiful silk touch in a rich red with scalloped detail is incredible, a perfect gown have all eyes on yourself

Another gown which I fell in love with is the Burberry cut out lace gown which is an exclusive to NET-A-PORTER. The old fashioned french lace detail to this is amazing, an old school gown is a real show stopper

Gowns are definitely the style to be wearing in Autumn and Winter, a gown gives off a true message of class and style

Statement Sunglasses

Temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees over the past week in London has allowed everyone to whip out their finest sunglasses. Sunglasses are a statement accessory which can complete an outfit depending on different shapes, colours, and size

Topshop have recently brought out a range of different alternative shaped sunglasses for example hexagon shape shades
These groovy sunglasses would go nicely with a simple chic pastel or light coloured dress with a pair or dainty shoes along side a light brown leather boxy bag

Cat eye sunglasses are a favourite of mine, if you have a slim or long shaped face then cat eye sunglasses are the ones for you!

These Chanel cat eyes are beautiful as the detail along the side of the frame brings a sense of beauty and elegance to the alternative shaped sunnies.
Cat eyed shaped sunglasses are so in at the moment so if you are looking for a cheaper option, ASOS and Topshop sell cool funky sunglasses for around £16
These two tone shades from ASOS are only £12, and look a lot more expensive! I love the contrasting colours of black and white on the frame, and a subtle purple used for the glass. The shape of these are wonderful and would go well with hair in an up-do and a bright coloured lipstick for a summers day

DOLCE AND GABBANA
Flicking through recent issues of Vogue, D&G sunglasses have caught my eye due to the imagination put into the frame and the attention of the beautiful detail making them extremely unique
This is the advertising campaign for the Summer 2013 collection of Womens sunglasses. This photo is lovely as both models look so happy enjoying the beautiful weather and the stunning blue ocean in the background makes the photograph rare and interesting. The sunglasses that the model on the left is wearing are the pair that caught my attention in a recent issue of Vogue, I adore the detail of the plastic look of flowers in the corners of the sunglasses, which would look lovely with long hair and a girly coloured dress
These sunglasses are part of the Baroque collection, they interested me as the gold detail across the whole frame is stunning and the structure of the roses and leafs around the frame is exceptional, these are by far my favourite shades I've seen for Summer 2013

DIOR

Dior is my all time number one favourite brand, the beauty and elegance of the designs for the dresses and leather goods is exceptional and breath taken, the detail to every last stitch is the finishing touch to each beautiful piece made by this wonderful brand

Lady Dior

My dream come true would be to own the Lady Dior handbag, a pretty and cute, subtle and not too over the top small handbag to wear on sunny days. The hard handle contrasting with the soft punctured leather of the bag is interesting with the detail of the Dior key chains on the handle. This bag comes in various colours and designs, some more simple than others, I prefer the more simple and one statement colours designs as they are more elegant and less busy than the others

These are my top 3 favourite colours of the Lady Dior, they all share a similar look, all being pastel and faded colours rather than bright and outgoing colours. These stunning bags would go beautiful with a white summer dress and some statement heels, along with your hair styled 1950's-esk.

Around the end of March, I visited the Dior exhibition which was put on in Harrods. A lovely experience which started off at the Dior cafe where I are a croissant and drank some sweet tea

After my breakfast, I wondered around the exhibition which fascinated me and made me love Dior even more! I saw how different dresses where made, read about the history of Dior and saw how the Lady Dior bag is constructed.

In the exhibition was the dress worn by Charlize Theron in the J'adore perfume advert. It was amazing to see it in real life and look at the exceptional gold detail in every aspect of the dress. The layout of the exhibition was also beautiful as you can see the dress is surrounded by dozens of J'adore perfume bottles, a gorgeous setup.

Block Colours

Block colours are so in at the moment! A statement clash is great for summer for example green against pink and everyone seems to be wearing it. The black on white classic contrast is one which is very much so favourited at the moment, from high street to harrods, its a trend which is loved. The Chanel Spring-Summer 2013 collection has a dress in it called the 'viscose dress'. This dress is full of detail with pearl buttons running down the back, this dress represents the elegant contrast between black and white with detail and pattern included, the squares running across the whole dress give it something more than just the black on white effect

Noted earlier, this style is also a trend in high street shops such as Topshop, but using cheaper materials. The Topshop range of this style is spectacular and are great for nights out. Topshop have also gone into different contrasts rather than just black on white.

This pair of trousers called 'SIDE STRIPE WIDE LEG TROUSER' on the website are unique, elegant, classy and well designed. I love the style of the trouser and the detail added along the seams. The tailored wide leg trouser looks good on all shapes and sizes as it exposes the good areas and hides the bad. These chic trousers are great with a tight black crop tee and a pair of wedges, along side some chunky jewelry

AQ/AQ

AQAQ also known as Aqua by Aqua, is a unique brand which not many people know about but now it has started selling for ASOS it is becoming more well known in the fashion industry. When I discovered this brand earlier this year, I was excited by their rare designs which I hadn't seen before, along side with their reasonable prices. Bright colours and simple arrangement is what makes the garments so beautiful in themselves. This brand is a new favourite for myself and I look forward to their Autumn collection

A girl Can Never Have Too Many Jewels
Flicking through the July issue of vogue, it came to my attention that the detail in jewelry is extremely significant to the piece and is usually what makes them so beautiful. The finest diamonds and choice of colour is crucial in order to make the piece attractive to the customer
This Dior piece called the 'Rose Bagatelle' was the jewel that caught my eye in this months vogue. The striking colour choice of a bright fuchsia against the simple clear diamond is beautiful creating a contrast, yet still delicate and feminine within the subject matter of a rose

One of my favourite designers is the inspiring Marc Jacobs, always with unique ideas which are out of the ordinary for example these block coloured bracelets made out of rubber. The idea to use bright colours ranging from Greens to Pinks is great for the summer season, which would go great with a tan! These marc by marc jacobs 'moc' chains are very cheap only $28 and go with almost everything. Also, the writing and branding on the plack makes the bracelet more alluring and distinctive

Hermès, an expensive yet worth the price brand which was founded in 1837 has always created pieces which will never go out of season. These loop earrings are a prime example. These beautiful hoop earrings with a bar running across the top come in pink gold and white gold, depending on your choice, my favourite pair are in the pink gold as they remind me of the typical middle ages women in the states which are portrayed in films. The beauty of the simplistic style to the hoop, minimized detail are what make the pair so elegant and gracious

Recently I spent 3 days in the scorching hot city of Madrid, the capital of Spain. Whilst most of the trip was spent soaking up the sun, I spent the morning of the last day at the market which takes place every Sunday. My favourite purchase at this market was this ring, elementary but at the same time captivating. The bright turquoise stone in the centre is what drew my attention and when I took a closer look the calved silver around the stone brought my attention towards the detail, and I had to buy it!
